United by our passion for motorsports and inspired by the legendary rally driver Colin McRae, we founded the "Flat-Out" Automobile Sports Club in 2017, exactly 10 years after the tragic accident. Our mission is to bring a fresh start to motorsports in Bulgaria – one filled with ambition, optimism, and determination. With dedication and commitment, we strive to develop this exciting sport in Bulgaria.
"Flat-Out" is not just a name – it is our credo and a symbol of our philosophy. The term has two main meanings: "at full speed" and "with all your might," and in the context of motorsports, it’s a slang term describing the most spectacular and extreme moments.
*"At full speed" - As a motorsports club, speed is in our nature. We aim for peak performance on the track.
*"By all means" - We put in maximum effort not only in races but also in achieving our goals and dreams.
*"The Spectacle" - This is the magnet for fans and spectators. Our drivers push their limits, delivering unforgettable moments for all motorsports enthusiasts.
Our motto is inspired by Colin McRae’s famous words: "If In Doubt, Flat-Out!", which we translate as: "If in doubt, act!" or "If in doubt, hit the gas!". This phrase embodies our philosophy and approach to challenges:
We believe that success comes when you dare to overcome the boundaries of fear and uncertainty. Whether the outcome is triumph or challenge, we trust in the courage and determination to give your best.
We are here to inspire, support, and develop motorsports in Bulgaria. With "Flat-Out," we push the limits but always with a vision for the future and a pursuit of excellence.
We aim to present racing as a proper platform for everyone with "gasoline in their blood." Many of us started racing on the streets due to a lack of proper conditions. However, in modern times, when the number of registered vehicles in the country exceeds 4 million and traffic is extremely intense, such actions are unacceptable.
Promoting motorsports is one of our primary goals. We strive to introduce the public to various disciplines and demonstrate that there is a place for everyone in the sport.
As motorsport enthusiasts, we are aware of numerous factors significantly impacting road safety in Bulgaria. Poor infrastructure, outdated vehicle fleets, and excessive speed are just some of the main causes of traffic accidents.
Our priority is to direct attention to road safety. Competitions should be held in appropriate and secure venues, not randomly on city streets.
We are dedicated to attracting young talents and supporting their development as true athletes.
Organizing competitions and rookies’ events is an important step in our development, aimed at providing a platform for both young talents and established racers.
"Flat-Out" actively participates in the activities of the national motorsport federation, works to unite automobile clubs and competitors, and engages in charitable causes, supporting former and current athletes, as well as road safety campaigns, including radio and television broadcasts.
In 2019, we were awarded the "Active Contribution of the Year" prize by the Bulgarian Motorsports Federation.
Every petrolhead is welcome to join the "Flat-Out" team for safer and more inspiring driving!
The very first season for "Flat-Out" took place in both professional and amateur motorsports. 2017 concluded with the annual awards ceremony of the Bulgarian Motorsports Federation. "Flat-Out" was honoured as team vice-champion in the "Circuit and Track racing" championship.
During this inaugural season, we gained many friends, which was our greatest reward, alongside all the unforgettable moments.
The 2019 brought us the team vice-champion title in the royal discipline – "Rally." We also earned the "Active Contribution of the Year" award from the Bulgarian Motorsports Federation.

During the so successful 2023 season we also turned our attention to nature. With our participation in motor racing, although not as numerous, our cars leave their carbon footprint (albeit minimal) on the environment. We decided to plant trees equal to the number of licensed "Flat-Out" drivers for the period 2017-2022. This resulted in planting 200 trees on the outskirts of Varna.
We are delighted that our team is full of enthusiasm and always supported by individuals eager to help us with extracurricular initiatives.
"Nature never stops in its movement and punishes all inaction." - Goethe
In allIn a sport, it is the mass media that play an important role in promoting it and building the image of athletes among the public. For a "young" team like ours, the support of the media is particularly important. Thanks to them people are informed about our participations and achievements. This is one more opportunity to gain new followers and fans, both for our club and for motorsport in Bulgaria. Team representatives actively participate in radio and television broadcasts, as well as in popular road safety campaigns.

Peter Obretenov is one of the key figures in FLAT-AUT, both on the race track and in the team management. As chairman and co-founder of the club, he actively works for the development and promotion of motorsport in Bulgaria.
His competitive career is preceded by his participation in various amateur championships, which started in 2007. Gradually gaining experience, he made his professional debut in 2016 in a Citroen Saxo.
Peter competes primarily in the mountain climbing championships, but in 2016 he also had success in the track events, finishing the season with two wins.
In 2017 he participated in almost all competitions on both "fronts", only missing the mountain climb "Bulgarka" (Sliven). This gave him the IV place in the annual ranking for his class (RC4), but he compensated for this omission in the track championship, where he finished II in the final ranking for the year.
In 2018, he made a full season in the track championship, and after a controversial battle, he won 1st place in the annual ranking in homologated cars up to 1600 cc.
Again in Burgas, in 2021, he declares his participation in a round of the track championship of Bulgaria. But this time in the highest series - "Maxi". He manages to win the third place, being the only winner with a car with one drive motor axle on the podium.
Rally debut and success:
2019 is the first year for him in the rally disciplines, and the debut is in Burgas - Rally Sprint Burgas. The co-driver is Kaloyan Shantanov. The competition is held in extremely difficult weather conditions, but the crew shows a solid performance and wins first place in the HC2 class with Ford Fiesta ST.
This success proved to be key for the tandem and they reached the 2nd place in the annual ranking for cars up to 3500 cc.
Development of motor sport and road safety:
Apart from his active racing activity, Peter Obretenov devotes a significant part of his time to the organization of automotive events and competitions - master driving (Gimkhana), "Rally Sprint for Enthusiasts" with its two editions in Balchik and Vratsa, car races and others, supported by the FLAT-AUT team.
He works hard to promote motorsports in Bulgaria and attract new faces to the automotive scene.
Peter is also an active participant in road safety awareness and prevention campaigns, striving to show that motorsport and road safety go hand in hand.

Yassen Obretenov is the youngest racer in the ASC Flat-out team, but already has an impressive career in motorsport.
He was born on April 2, 1996 in the town of. Balchik, he made his professional debut in 2017 (at the age of 21), with his first participation in the mountain climb "Valery Velikov" (Shumen). The same year, after a full season in the closed course and track championship, Yassen took the 1st place in the annual ranking for cars of class NS2 (up to 3500 cc) and the 3rd place in the general ranking for the fastest racing cars in Bulgaria - "Maxi" series.
Over the years, Yassen has also participated in a number of competitions in the mountain climbing championship, and his successes there are not small.
Rally career and partnership with Kaloyan Shantanov:
The 2017 season also marks Obretenov's debut in the national rally championship, with co-driver Kaloyan Shantanov. The tandem have solid experience as sailing teammates, and their first competition as a rally crew was in the final round of the championship - Rally "Old Capitals" (Shumen).
In 2018, the two recorded an extremely successful season, topping the annual ranking in Group E, after winning the most prestigious rally in Bulgaria (gr. Varna), and two second places in the rallies "Old Capitals" (gr. Shumen) and "Tvarditsa-Elena" (Tvarditsa).
Despite the incredible results, the title eluded them after they failed to start the Rally Serbia, finishing the season 2nd in the group, just 9 points behind the winners.
Yassen was awarded the special prize "Todor Slavov", presented by the father of the rally legend Todor Slavov, after the final of Rally Bulgaria (2018), in recognition of a young and prosperous competitor with high success and outstanding skills.
Season 2019 - an incident and a new beginning
After a strong bid for a Group E title in 2019, the season begins with the 50th anniversary edition of Rally Bulgaria. On the very first day, in a special stage "White Water", Obretenov and Shantanov suffered a serious accident after the car literally flew over the track at a speed of 180 km/h. as the subsequent landing is not at all smooth. After a few spins the car is off the section and not recoverable. Fortunately, the riders were unhurt, but their vehicle was completely destroyed.
Despite the difficult start of the season, Yassen is behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta ST for Rally Monbat Sliven. Without any preliminary tests, he and Shantanov managed to take 2nd place in Group E cars.
The tandem prepares a new car for its appearances - the BMW 1-Series (E87), and success with it is not delayed. In the 2021 season, the crew recorded podium finishes in Rally Serbia, Rally Monbat Sliven and Rally Tvarditsa.
In 2023 Yassen returned to the mountain championship and won the "Todor Slavov" climb (named after the famous Bulgarian racer), which is organized by ASC "FLAT-AUT" on the iconic rally section "Aladja Monastery". It was after this victory that he was awarded the prize "Todor Slavov" for the second time.
With his impressive performances in rally, mountain climbing, track and drag racing, Yassen Obretenov proves to be one of the most dynamic and promising racers in ASC "FLAT-AUT".
Yassen's participation in drag racing competitions is sporadic. There he competes with a BMW 435 (F32), and in 2017 he won first place in the S7 class in the city of Brno. In 2018 he came second in the "Index 12", at the "Condofrei" track (Radomir).

Plamen Staykov started his racing career in 2002 with a VAZ car, his debut competition was the rally "Soser Sliven" and his co-driver was his father.
His talent was shown in the next season, when in only his second completed rally - "Hebros" /gr. Plovdiv/, he managed to climb to the highest place on the podium, already as a driver behind the wheel of Renault Clio Sport. With this car he became vice-champion in the N3 class in 2003, 2004 and 2005. His perseverance was rewarded with the class championship in 2006.
He has won a number of national and international competitions, the most notable being his achievements in 2014, 2016 and 2017 - champion of Bulgaria in the general classification and RC2 class, and in the last year his title was matched by the first place in ERT2 /European Rally Trophy/.
To his many successes in the rally discipline Plamen adds to his collection of titles the one of champion in mountain climbs. In 2013, round before the end of the season, he has accumulated a sufficient asset of points and deservedly won the first position in the overall annual ranking of the championship.
After the purchase of a Rally2 class car - Skoda Fabia R5, Plamen Staykov's plans for the "upcoming" 2022 season include participation in all rounds of the national rally and rally sprint championships, as well as a possible entry for Rally Barum /Czech Republic/.
He was born on 26 April 1989 in the town of Provadia.
He started his non-professional racing career at the age of 17, and in his very first start he recorded a win in his category and a second place in the general classification.
After coming of age, he participated in numerous amateur competitions with VAZ 2101, winning more than 30 awards.
Luckily for him, Boyan Bezus and one of the legends of Bulgarian motor sport - Todor Slavov, noticed his talent. The two professional racers gave him a hand to make his first start in the national championship in mountain climbing, providing free of charge racing tires and a fully equipped car - Opel Astra, the same that Stanislav drives to this day.
The debut was in the summer of 2011, in Targovishte, where at that time a round of the mountain climbing championship was held. Stanislav won the second place in his class (X3), defeated by Lyuben Kamenov - one of the best Bulgarian competitors in this championship.
In 2013. Stanislav purchased the racing Opel Astra from B. Bezus and began his preparation for the national rally sprint championship.
In the first race of this type - "Rally Sprint Varna" (2014), due to a technical failure the car left the track and hit a curb. The damage is serious and does not allow the crew to continue with their participation. At the next edition, held in the town of Varna. Stanislav finished first in his class and third in the general classification for non-homologated cars.
One year later, again in the town of. Varna, debuted in the rally championship. The "royal" discipline of motor racing was an expected step in his development as a driver. The crew finished the stages near the sea capital in second place in the RC 3 class, being overtaken by the unbeatable Todor Slavov, who then won the general classification.
In the next round of the championship - "Rally Tvarditsa-Elena", the crew again reached the second place.
The race, unfortunately for all motorsport fans, was marked by a serious accident, in which Todor Slavov died.
In the fourth round - "Rally of the Old Capitals", events did not go in favour of the crew. In heavy rain, due to pilot error, the car fell into aquaplaning at a speed of 174 km/h. Fortunately everyone was unhurt and the material damage was minor.
The 2016 season has been extremely successful for Stanislav. He won the championship title in the RC 3 class and finished the year in second position in the 2WD class. It was also the competitor's only full rally season.
Episodic appearances in rally, rally sprint and mountain climbing competitions followed, crowned with more victories. Stanislav made two strong competitions in the 2019 season - Rally Bulgaria and Rally MONBAT Sliven, in which he won first and second place in the RC 3 class, respectively.
Due to lack of financial resources and the inability to complete a "full calendar", plans for the 2021 season include a move to the non-homologated autobike group - E1. This category allows for an increase in the power of the car as well as a drastic reduction in its weight. For this purpose, hard work is boiling on the familiar to all car fans - Opel Astra.
The decision to do so was also made taking into account Stanislav Vladimirov's desire to participate in the races solely for the adrenaline and pure pleasure they give him.

Simeon Dimitrov is a co-founder of the Automobile Sports Club "Flat-out" and an experienced racer with a long history in motorsport.
His career began in 2007, when he debuted in professional races at the Varna circuit behind the wheel of a VAZ 2107.
In 2008, he took part in the Closed Course and Track Championship again, but now in a VW Golf GTI. He took part in 3 races - Varna track, Stara Zagora track and Burgas track.
The following year he made almost a full season in the same championship, taking part in 5 races - "Ruse" track, "Varna" track, "Burgas" track and "Dragon 1" and "Dragon 2" tracks near Plovdiv. On the track in Ruse he won 3rd place in his class. The final result of the 2009 season was the 4th place in the annual ranking.
Via 2010 г. Simeon changes his racing car with Citroën Saxo, which continues its participation in Closed Course and Track Championships. This car remains linked to the club's history - a number of FLAT-AUT racers "piloted" it in their debut appearances in various disciplines.
Apart from professional competitions, Simeon actively participates in various amateur championshipswhere it competes with Subaru Impreza с power over 400 hp.demonstrating his passion and experience in motorsports.
Motor sport development and road safety:
Besides his active racing activities, Simeon Dimitrov devotes a significant part of his time to the organization of automotive events and competitions. Together with the team of ASC Flat-out, he works to promote motorsport and attract new competitors.
Simeon is also an active participant in road safety awareness and prevention campaigns, striving to show that motorsport and safety go hand in hand.
With his long racing history and key role in the development of the club, Simeon Dimitrov remains one of the founding members of ASC Flat Out, contributing both with his experience on the track and his commitment to the development of motorsport.

Kaloyan was born on August 24, 1993 in the town of. Kaloyan was born on the 24th of August, 2005 in Varna.
He started his professional racing career at the end of 2017.
His debut participation in professional sport was as a navigator on Yassen Obretenov - his teammate. Together they took part in the 48th edition of Rally "Old Capitals", in the town of. Shumen, with BMW E30.
In 2018, the two made a full season in the rally championship, and after several podium finishes, managed to win second place in the annual Group E car standings, just a few points off the leaders in the standings.
2019 Kaloyan records his first appearances in the Rally Sprint Championship - "Sliven" and "Burgas". In Sliven he came second in a crew with Yassen Obretenov, both of them competing in the Monbat Sliven Rally - a round of the European Rally Trophy. The crew won third place in the sprint race and second place in the royal discipline with an unusual car for the tandem - a Ford Fiesta ST. This came after their BMW E30 suffered a serious accident during the 50th anniversary edition of Rally Bulgaria - the car was off the track and not recoverable.
Despite the adversities, their results during the season contributed to the team titles of ASC "FLAT-AUT" in both championships - rally and rally sprint.
Kaloyan joins the sprint race in Burgas as a co-driver of Petar Obretenov. The two debuted as a crew in extremely difficult weather conditions and managed to climb to the top step of the podium, ahead of competitors with cars like the Ford Escort Cosworth WRC.
Not such is the success of the newly formed team in the 2020 edition of Rally Sprint Dryanovo. In the very first stage, not far from the start, Kaloyan Shantanov and Peter Obretenov hit a roadside kerb and their participation in the race ended - the damage to their Ford Fiesta was minor, but reaching the finish was impossible.

He started his racing career in 2009, making his debut in his home race, part of the Bulgarian track championship - Varna track, with a Volkswagen Golf.
In the same year he also made his debut at the rally "Tvarditsa", with co-driver Teodor Rusev. They both came third in the "X2" class.
In 2011, he had a serious accident with his VW Golf during training. The incident in no way hindered his racing career and not long after, he returned to the sport in a VAZ 2108.
Gradually he developed his skills and began to use his race car almost at 100%. In order to gain experience in motorsport he also joined the mountain climbing championship races. The results were not delayed. His efforts and hard work were crowned with success - in 2015 he won the championship title in the annual classification for the NS 5 class.
One year later, in 2016, to confirm his level, he made a full season in the rally championship with his co-driver Ivan Minev. Luck did not betray them and with a full asset of competitions, they won the first place in the annual rally ranking, in the "E1" class.
Todor Atanasov starts the 2017 season with a navigator Vladimir Vladimirov. Together they recorded participation in the rally "Bulgaria" and rally "Sliven", performing excellently and winning prizes in their class. After the last rally of the season - Rally "Old Capitals", Atanasov again finished in first place, but this time with co-driver Kristina Atanasova. The need for a new co-driver in the person of his sister is due to the inability of Vladimir Vladimirov to take part. The season ends again on the highest step of the podium - first place in the annual ranking in the "E1" class.
